Where Are The Egyptian Pyramids?

There are actually over 100 pyramids in Egypt although many of them are relatively unknown to those other than ancient Egypt enthusiasts. Also, many smaller pyramids are in a poor state of preservation and appear as little more than mounds of rubble. They are only now being properly identified and studied by archaeologists.

The majority of pyramids are grouped around and near the city of Cairo, just south of the Nile Delta. Only one royal pyramid is known in southern Egypt, located at Abydos.
